Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic sold as Erythrocin 250 mg and 500 mg stearate tablets in the UK and as Ery-Tab base, E.E.S. 400 ethylsuccinate and IV lactobionate products in the US, and it needs no cold chain.
M Care Exports supplies erythromycin tablets, including erythromycin stearate 250 mg and 500 mg (the UK Erythrocin presentation) and enteric-coated base tablets, to hospital pharmacies, importers and tender desks in the GCC, Africa and the UK. If you are looking for erythromycin 250 mg or 500 mg, send the destination, the salt, the strength and the quantity, and we quote per destination.
Erythromycin exporter and bulk supplier from India.
"We need a partner for erythromycin tablets" is a typical formulary or tender enquiry, and our first question back is which erythromycin. The name covers several salts and forms with different labels. In the UK, Erythrocin 250 and Erythrocin 500 are erythromycin stearate film-coated tablets, and the emc SmPCs name Amdipharm UK Limited as marketing authorisation holder. In the US, the Ery-Tab label (packager Arbor Pharmaceuticals) covers erythromycin base delayed-release tablets of 250 mg, 333 mg and 500 mg, and E.E.S. 400 (Azurity Pharmaceuticals, formerly Arbor) covers ethylsuccinate tablets of 400 mg. DailyMed lists both under abbreviated new drug applications, the US generic route. Erythrocin Lactobionate-IV from Hospira is a 500 mg single-dose intravenous vial. The name Erythrocin therefore sits on more than one product, so we confirm the salt and strength before quoting. M Care is a merchant-exporter and supplies regulator-registered brands as well as Indian-made lines. Erycin, Althrocin and Erymax are examples of Indian-made erythromycin tablets on our roster. The tablets are ambient-temperature products, so freight is simple. Related anti-infective pages are azithromycin and clarithromycin.

Macrolide antibiotic (ATC J01FA01); WHO AWaRe 2023 Watch group, sourced and documented for export.
Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic. The UK emc SmPCs for Erythrocin 250 and Erythrocin 500 describe film-coated tablets containing 250 mg or 500 mg of erythromycin as the stearate salt, for the prophylaxis and treatment of infections caused by erythromycin-sensitive organisms. The listed areas include respiratory, ear, oral, eye, skin and soft tissue, and gastrointestinal infections, and prophylaxis in some settings such as rheumatic fever. The dose for adults and children over 8 years is 1 to 2 g daily in divided doses for mild to moderate infections, up to 4 g daily for severe infections. The US Ery-Tab label describes enteric-coated delayed-release base tablets of 250 mg, 333 mg and 500 mg, with a usual adult dose of 250 mg four times daily, or 500 mg every 12 hours if twice-daily dosing is wanted. The US E.E.S. 400 label covers 400 mg ethylsuccinate film-coated tablets as well as granules for oral suspension. The Hospira Erythrocin Lactobionate-IV label covers a 500 mg intravenous vial for use when oral administration is not possible or the infection needs immediate high serum levels. Erythromycin is a Watch-group antibiotic in the WHO 2023 AWaRe classification.

Hospital pharmacies, licensed importers and tender desks across our export markets.
India is our origin. We do not sell into the Indian market.
Buyers are hospital pharmacists, MoH and hospital tender desks, and licensed importers and distributors in the GCC, Africa and the UK. Typical enquiries read "I'm looking for Erythrocin 500 mg tablets for a hospital formulary" or "We need a partner for erythromycin stearate 250 mg for a tender". Each destination has its own route to registration or import, for example the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) in the UAE, NAFDAC in Nigeria and the MHRA in the UK, and we align the offer with it before quoting. M Care supplies both regulator-registered brands and Indian-made lines, and we do not state that any Indian-made line is registered in a given destination unless that destination's regulator confirms it.
GCC registration routes
Supply against MoH registration held by your local licensed importer, or via the GCC central registration pathway.
UK unlicensed routes
Where no UK licence exists, the MHRA Specials and named-patient import routes cover clinically justified demand.
Tender desks
Bid-pack documentation assembled to the tender's specification, from CoPP to batch records.
Dossier support
CTD documentation from the sourcing manufacturer, compiled for your regulator's format.
What the dispensing pharmacist checks on erythromycin.
Check the salt before you check the strength, because erythromycin stearate, base and ethylsuccinate are different products with different labels and are not automatically interchangeable on an order. The US Ery-Tab label states that the enteric-coated base tablet delivers adequate drug in both fasting and non-fasting conditions, while its optimal blood levels are described in the fasting state. The bigger hazard is interactions. The US labels describe erythromycin as a substrate and inhibitor of CYP3A, and the UK SmPC contraindicates simvastatin, ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, domperidone, cisapride, pimozide and others. The SmPC also says erythromycin should not be given to patients with a history of QT prolongation or with hypokalaemia or hypomagnesaemia. The US labels report QT prolongation and torsades de pointes, and warn of colchicine toxicity and hepatotoxicity. The UK SmPC also says erythromycin should not be used during and for two weeks after treatment with CYP3A4 inducers such as rifampicin. For the IV vial, the Hospira label says IV push is an unacceptable route, and the diluted solution for intermittent infusion is prepared to a concentration of 1 to 5 mg/mL. The UK SmPC states no special storage precautions for the tablets and a 60-month shelf life.
The documentation pack a regulator actually asks for.
Erythromycin tablets are an ambient-temperature product, so no cold chain applies. The UK SmPCs for Erythrocin 250 and 500 state no special storage precautions and a 60-month shelf life, with bottles of 100, containers of 50, 100 or 1,000 and blister packs of 10, 14, 15, 28 or 56 tablets, not all marketed. The US labels say to store below 30 °C for Ery-Tab, and at 20 to 25 °C for E.E.S. 400 and for the Hospira lactobionate vial. Generic erythromycin is regulator-listed in both regions we checked. The UK emc lists erythromycin tablets from companies including Strides Pharma UK, Sovereign Medical and Brown & Burk UK (gastro-resistant 250 mg), and DailyMed lists several generic erythromycin delayed-release and film-coated tablet labels from companies including Torrent, Amneal, Wilshire and Alembic. M Care documentation covers batch certificates of analysis, export documents and destination-aligned dossier support where the regulator asks for it. We state the source and status of each line before quoting, and make no manufacturing or WHO claim for M Care itself.

Erythromycin supply, the specific questions.
What decides the landed price of erythromycin 250 mg and 500 mg tablets for an importer?
We do not publish prices. The landed cost depends on whether you want a regulator-registered brand or an Indian-made line, the salt (stearate, base or ethylsuccinate), the strength, the pack size, the quantity, the registration route in your destination and Incoterms. No cold chain applies, so freight is simpler than for refrigerated products. M Care Exports quotes per destination once we have the salt, strength, pack and quantity.
What is Erythrocin 250 mg, and which packs exist?
In the UK, Erythrocin 250 is a film-coated tablet with 250 mg of erythromycin as the stearate salt, listed on emc with Amdipharm UK Limited as marketing authorisation holder. The SmPC lists bottles of 100 tablets, containers of 50, 100 or 1,000 and blisters of 10, 14, 15, 28 or 56, and notes that not all pack sizes may be marketed. It states no special storage precautions and a 60-month shelf life. Send the destination, pack count and quantity and we confirm what we can quote.
What is the Erythrocin 500 tablet, and what are Erythrocin 500 tablet uses?
Erythrocin 500 is the 500 mg erythromycin stearate film-coated tablet on emc, from the same holder and with the same pack range and 60-month shelf life as the 250 mg tablet. The SmPC dose is 1 to 2 g daily in divided doses for mild to moderate infections in adults and children over 8 years, up to 4 g daily for severe infections. State the strength on your order, because the tablet count per day differs between 250 mg and 500 mg. Uses are those on the label of your destination.
What are Erythrocin tablet uses, and what are they not for?
The UK SmPC covers prophylaxis and treatment of infections caused by erythromycin-sensitive organisms, including respiratory, ear, oral, eye, skin and soft tissue, and gastrointestinal infections, plus some prophylaxis such as rheumatic fever. The US labels list specific bacterial infections, and the E.E.S. label says the drug should be used only for infections proven or strongly suspected to be bacterial. Erythromycin is an antibiotic and is not a treatment for viral infections. Check the label of your destination for the authorised list.
Is there a generic erythromycin, and what other brands exist?
Yes. In the UK, the emc lists erythromycin tablets from Strides Pharma UK, Sovereign Medical and Brown & Burk UK, among others, besides the Erythrocin brand. In the US, DailyMed lists generic erythromycin delayed-release and film-coated tablet labels from several companies, and lists the Ery-Tab and E.E.S. 400 brands themselves under abbreviated new drug applications, the US generic route. Erythrocin is also the name of the Hospira lactobionate IV vial in the US, so the name does not point to one holder. M Care also supplies Indian-made lines such as Erycin, Althrocin and Erymax, which we do not describe as registered anywhere unless a regulator says so.
What are the main interactions and safety points to check before ordering erythromycin?
The US labels describe erythromycin as a substrate and inhibitor of CYP3A, and it can prolong the QT interval. The UK SmPC contraindicates simvastatin, ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, domperidone, cisapride and pimozide, among others, and reports colchicine toxicity and raised levels or effects of digoxin, theophylline and oral anticoagulants. It says erythromycin should not be given to patients with a history of QT prolongation. The US labels report hepatotoxicity and torsades de pointes. Prescribers decide on use, and the destination's approved leaflet governs.
