WHO-GMP sourced EU-GMP partners ISO 9001:2015 49+ export markets Since 2003

Vimpat (lacosamide) is UCB's antiepileptic for partial-onset seizures, supplied as tablets, an oral solution or syrup and an intravenous infusion, and generic lacosamide is now approved in both the US and the EU.

M Care Exports supplies Vimpat (lacosamide), the originator brand from UCB, alongside Indian-made generic lacosamide. We are a merchant-exporter: we source through licensed channels and quote per destination, and we do not manufacture. If you are looking for Vimpat 50, 100, 150 or 200 mg tablets, the 200 mg/20 mL vial or the oral solution, send us the strength, pack and destination.

Bulk supply and export terms

Lacosamide exporter and bulk supplier from India.

"I'm looking for Vimpat in bulk, or a lacosamide generic that my regulator will accept" is the usual starting point for hospital pharmacies, tender desks and importers. M Care Exports quotes the UCB originator and Indian-made generic lacosamide as separate lines, so you can compare them against your registered product, your tender specification and your formulary. We confirm strength, dosage form, pack size and the dossier your regulator expects before we dispatch. Tablets are the bulk of the volume. The intravenous vial is a smaller, hospital-only line, and we quote it separately.

At a glance

Antiepileptic drug, sourced and documented for export.

Lacosamide is an antiepileptic drug. The current US label for Vimpat (UCB) lists partial-onset seizures in patients from 1 month of age, as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy, and adjunctive therapy for primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures from 4 years of age. The US forms are film-coated tablets of 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg, a 200 mg/20 mL single-dose injection vial and a 10 mg/mL oral solution. The EU authorisation (UCB Pharma SA, issued 29 August 2008) covers tablets, syrup and solution for infusion, and the UK SmPC lists film-coated tablets in packs of 14, 28, 56 and 168 plus a 60-tablet bottle. The adult maximum on the US label is 200 mg twice daily (400 mg a day), and tablets are swallowed whole. Lacosamide is a Schedule V controlled substance in the US. The US label gives 20 to 25 degrees C for all forms (excursions 15 to 30 degrees C permitted), so there is no cold-chain requirement, but the injection and oral solution must not be frozen.

Who we supply

Hospital pharmacies, licensed importers and tender desks across our export markets.

India is our origin. We do not sell into the Indian market.

We supply hospital pharmacies and neurology units that stock the intravenous vial for patients who temporarily cannot swallow, MoH and hospital tender desks listing an antiepileptic line, and licensed importers and distributors in the GCC, Africa and the UK. We need a partner for a registered originator line is a common brief. So is a registered generic where the destination accepts one. Both are quotable. Neither is assumed. Prescribing is specialist-led, so buyers usually ask for strength-by-strength quantities rather than a single bulk figure.

GCC registration routes

Supply against MoH registration held by your local licensed importer, or via the GCC central registration pathway.

Pharmacist's note

What the dispensing pharmacist checks on lacosamide.

Three points matter at the pharmacy desk. First, cardiac conduction: the US label warns of dose-dependent PR interval prolongation, with AV block, bradycardia and ventricular tachyarrhythmia reported with intravenous infusion. It recommends an ECG before starting and after titration to steady state in patients with underlying proarrhythmic conditions or on drugs that affect cardiac conduction. The UK SmPC contraindicates known second- or third-degree AV block. Second, dose adjustment: the US label reduces the maximum dose by 25% in severe renal impairment and in mild to moderate hepatic impairment, and it is not recommended in severe hepatic impairment. After a 4-hour haemodialysis session, supplementation of up to 50% should be considered. Third, the formulation: the injection is for use only when oral dosing is temporarily not feasible, with a recommended infusion of 30 to 60 minutes, and unused vial contents are discarded. Tablets must not be divided. Oral solution needs a calibrated measuring device and is discarded 6 months after opening. Withdrawal should be gradual, over at least 1 week.

Regulatory & quality

The documentation pack a regulator actually asks for.

Lacosamide needs no refrigerated lane: the US label gives 20 to 25 degrees C with excursions to 15 to 30 degrees C, and the UK tablet SmPC requires no special storage condition. The injection and oral solution must not be frozen, so winter air freight needs thought. The US label classes lacosamide as Schedule V, so check early whether your regulator applies controlled-medicine import-permit rules. Registration status varies by destination, and we do not claim any Indian generic is registered anywhere. Where a regulator names a specific reference product, M Care Exports supplies the originator. Where it accepts a generic, we offer Indian-made lacosamide. We provide the batch certificate of analysis and the CTD-format dossier support your regulator requires. Generic lacosamide is authorised in the EU (Lacosamide Accord, 18 September 2017, referencing Vimpat), and the openFDA Drugs@FDA data lists many approved US generic lacosamide applications, the earliest dated 17 March 2022.

Frequently asked

Lacosamide supply, the specific questions.

What is the price of Vimpat 200 mg?

We do not publish a price, because the landed price of Vimpat 200 mg depends on the buyer. Importers should expect it to turn on originator or generic, strength and pack size, order quantity, the destination's registration route, Incoterms, and whether the lane needs freeze protection. M Care Exports quotes per destination, so send us the strength, pack, quantity and country and we reply with a written quotation.

Is there a generic version of Vimpat?

Yes. In the EU, the EMA authorised Lacosamide Accord as a generic of Vimpat on 18 September 2017. In the US, openFDA's Drugs@FDA data lists numerous approved generic lacosamide applications, the earliest dated 17 March 2022, including several from Indian manufacturers. M Care Exports also supplies Indian-made generic lacosamide wherever the destination's registration accepts it.

Do you supply Vimpat injection?

Yes, on quote. The US presentation is a 200 mg/20 mL single-dose vial (10 mg/mL), packed 10 vials to a carton. The EU lists a solution for infusion. It is meant for patients who temporarily cannot take tablets, and unused solution is discarded. The injection must not be frozen, and we confirm the vial presentation your regulator has registered before dispatch.

What are the uses of Vimpat 50 mg and 100 mg tablets?

Vimpat tablets are antiepileptic medicines. The US label lists partial-onset seizures from 1 month of age and adjunctive therapy for primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures from 4 years. Adults on adjunctive therapy start at 50 mg twice daily and are titrated upward no more often than weekly. Paediatric age bands differ between the US and UK labels, so follow the label registered in your country.

Do you supply Vimpat 100 mg tablets in packs of 56?

Yes, we quote Vimpat 100 mg in the pack your regulator has registered. The UK SmPC lists 56-tablet blister packs and 60-tablet bottles, while the US label lists bottles and unit-dose cartons of 60. We confirm the pack against your registration before we quote, because tender specifications often name the count.

Can M Care Exports supply the originator brand and Indian generics together?

Yes. We are a merchant-exporter, so we supply Vimpat from UCB as the originator and Indian-made lacosamide as separate lines. The choice depends on what your regulator will register and what your tender specifies. We do not claim any Indian generic is registered in a given destination until that registration is confirmed.
