Hydroxyurea and hydroxycarbamide are the same antimetabolite, named hydroxyurea in the US and hydroxycarbamide as the INN, and sold under brands such as Hydrea, Droxia, Siklos and Xromi, each labelled either for sickle cell disease or for chronic myeloid leukaemia and certain other cancers.
M Care Exports supplies hydroxyurea (hydroxycarbamide), including Hydrea 500 mg capsules, Droxia capsules, Siklos 100 mg and 1,000 mg tablets and Xromi 100 mg/mL oral solution, plus Indian-made 500 mg capsule lines, to hospital pharmacies, importers and tender desks in the GCC, Africa and the UK. If you are looking for hydroxyurea, send the destination, the indication, the strength and the quantity, and we quote per destination.
Hydroxycarbamide exporter and bulk supplier from India.
"We need a partner for hydroxyurea for sickle cell" and "I'm looking for hydroxycarbamide 500 mg capsules" are two different enquiries. One molecule comes in several forms: 500 mg capsules (Hydrea, hydroxycarbamide medac and US generic hydroxyurea capsules), 200, 300 and 400 mg capsules (Droxia), 100 mg and 1,000 mg scored tablets (Siklos) and a 100 mg/mL oral solution (Xromi). M Care is a merchant-exporter. We supply originator or regulator-registered brands and Indian-made lines such as Unidrea, Durea and Myelostat 500 mg capsules, for destinations whose registration accepts them. We do not claim those Indian brands are registered in any particular country. Hydroxyurea is a cytotoxic oral medicine, so the quote also turns on handling and documentation, not only on strength and quantity.

Antimetabolite, sourced and documented for export.
Hydroxyurea is an antimetabolite. The Droxia label describes it that way and indicates it to reduce the frequency of painful crises and the need for blood transfusions in sickle cell anaemia with recurrent moderate to severe painful crises. The Siklos US label covers adults and children aged 2 years and older with sickle cell anaemia and recurrent crises, and the EMA lists Siklos (100 mg and 1,000 mg tablets) for preventing recurrent painful vaso-occlusive crises, including acute chest syndrome, in paediatric and adult patients with symptomatic sickle-cell syndrome. The EMA lists Xromi for preventing vaso-occlusive complications of sickle cell disease in patients over 9 months of age, and the US Xromi label covers paediatric patients aged 6 months and older with sickle cell anaemia and recurrent moderate to severe painful crises. The cancer labels differ. The US Hydrea label lists resistant chronic myeloid leukaemia and locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck with chemoradiation. The UK Hydrea SmPC lists chronic myeloid leukaemia and cervical cancer with radiotherapy. The UK hydroxycarbamide medac SmPC lists chronic myeloid leukaemia, and essential thrombocythaemia or polycythaemia vera at high thromboembolic risk. Check the indication of the exact product you are buying.

Hospital pharmacies, licensed importers and tender desks across our export markets.
India is our origin. We do not sell into the Indian market.
Buyers are hospital haematology and oncology pharmacists, MoH and hospital tender desks, and licensed importers and distributors in the GCC, Africa and the UK. Typical enquiries read "I'm looking for hydroxyurea 500 mg capsules for a haematology unit" or "We need a partner for Siklos tablets for a sickle cell programme". Registration depends on the destination regulator, for example the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) in the UAE, NAFDAC in Nigeria and the MHRA in the UK. We align the offer with it before quoting, and we state per enquiry whether a line is a regulator-registered brand or an Indian-made line.
GCC registration routes
Supply against MoH registration held by your local licensed importer, or via the GCC central registration pathway.
UK unlicensed routes
Where no UK licence exists, the MHRA Specials and named-patient import routes cover clinically justified demand.
Tender desks
Bid-pack documentation assembled to the tender's specification, from CoPP to batch records.
Dossier support
CTD documentation from the sourcing manufacturer, compiled for your regulator's format.
What the dispensing pharmacist checks on hydroxycarbamide.
Treat hydroxyurea as a cytotoxic oral medicine. The Hydrea US label says to swallow capsules whole, never open, break or chew them, and for caregivers to wear disposable gloves and wash hands before and after contact. The UK Hydrea SmPC asks for disposable gloves and says pregnant women should not handle the product. The Siklos label states tablets may be split, and may be dispersed in a small quantity of water immediately before use. Broken Siklos tablets stay in the bottle and are used within three months. Monitoring is frequent: the Siklos and Droxia US labels carry a boxed warning for myelosuppression and malignancies, with blood counts every 2 weeks, and the US and UK Hydrea labels ask for blood counts at least once a week. US labels reduce the dose by 50% when creatinine clearance is below 60 mL/min. Contraception is required for women for at least 6 months after treatment in the US and UK labels. Male contraception differs by label: at least 1 year for US Hydrea, Droxia and UK Hydrea, at least 6 months for US Siklos and 3 months for hydroxycarbamide medac. The US Hydrea label also warns that hydroxyurea can falsely raise some continuous glucose monitor readings.
The documentation pack a regulator actually asks for.
Storage differs by product, so confirm it per line. The US labels for Hydrea, Droxia and Siklos give 20 to 25 °C, with excursions to 15 to 30 °C, and keep the container tightly closed. The EU Siklos product information says store below 30 °C, with a 3-year shelf life. The UK Hydrea SmPC says do not store above 25 °C, with a 3-year shelf life, and the hydroxycarbamide medac SmPC says do not store above 25 °C with a 4-year shelf life. Xromi is different: the EU product information says store in a refrigerator at 2 to 8 °C, shelf life 2 years and 12 weeks after first opening, and the US label also gives 2 to 8 °C. Among the labels we read, that makes Xromi the only form that needs a cold-chain lane. The US labels name H2-Pharma as labeller for Hydrea and Droxia, with Cheplapharm as registrant, Medunik for Siklos and Nova Laboratories for Xromi. The EMA lists Theravia as Siklos authorisation holder and Lipomed GmbH for Xromi, and emc names Neon Healthcare for UK Hydrea and medac for hydroxycarbamide medac. M Care provides batch certificates of analysis, export documents and destination-aligned dossier support where the regulator requires it. We state each manufacturer's quality status per line, and make no claim for M Care itself beyond merchant-exporter documentation.

Hydroxycarbamide supply, the specific questions.
What decides the price of hydroxyurea 500 mg for an importer?
We do not publish prices. The landed cost of hydroxyurea depends on whether you want a regulator-registered brand such as Hydrea or an Indian-made 500 mg capsule line, the strength and pack, the quantity, the registration route in your destination, the shelf life remaining on arrival and Incoterms. Xromi oral solution adds a 2 to 8 °C lane. M Care Exports quotes per destination once you send the product, volume and country.
Are hydroxyurea and hydroxycarbamide the same medicine?
Yes. Hydroxyurea is the name used in US labels such as Hydrea, Droxia and Siklos. Hydroxycarbamide is the international non-proprietary name used in EU and UK documents, including the UK Hydrea SmPC, the hydroxycarbamide medac SmPC and the EMA pages for Siklos and Xromi. The molecule is the same. What differs is the strength, the dosage form and the indications each label carries, so buy against the product name and strength.
Which hydroxyurea products are labelled for sickle cell disease?
Among the labels we read, Droxia, Siklos and Xromi (US) are labelled for sickle cell anaemia with recurrent painful crises, and the EMA lists Siklos and Xromi for sickle cell prevention in the EU. The US Hydrea label and the UK Hydrea and hydroxycarbamide medac SmPCs list cancer or myeloproliferative indications, not sickle cell. Dosing is weight-based and set by the prescriber. The Droxia and Siklos US labels reduce the dose by 50% when creatinine clearance is below 60 mL/min and call for blood counts every 2 weeks.
Do you supply hydroxyurea medac 500 mg?
Hydroxycarbamide medac 500 mg capsules are listed on emc, with medac as authorisation holder, for chronic myeloid leukaemia and for essential thrombocythaemia or polycythaemia vera at high thromboembolic risk. Each capsule contains 25 mg lactose monohydrate, and the SmPC gives a 4-year shelf life. We quote 500 mg hydroxycarbamide capsules, and whether a specific marketed product or an Indian-made line fits depends on what your destination registers. Tell us the country and we confirm per enquiry.
Is there a hydroxyurea syrup, and is hydroxyurea available as a generic?
The liquid form is Xromi, a 100 mg/mL oral solution. In the EU it comes with 3 mL and 10 mL dosing syringes and is authorised for sickle cell disease in patients over 9 months of age. The US Xromi label covers paediatric sickle cell patients aged 6 months and older. Both labels say store at 2 to 8 °C. On generics, DailyMed lists generic hydroxyurea 500 mg capsules approved under abbreviated applications in the US, and the UK emc lists Hydrea and hydroxycarbamide medac as separate 500 mg capsule products. We quote per destination.
What is the difference between Siklos 100 mg and 1,000 mg tablets?
Both are film-coated, scored tablets of hydroxyurea. The US label says the 100 mg tablet divides into two 50 mg parts and the 1,000 mg tablet into four 250 mg parts, so the two strengths can deliver 50, 100, 250, 500, 750 and 1,000 mg doses and combinations of them. Tablets can be dispersed in a little water immediately before use. Send the strengths and quantities you need and we quote each as its own line.
