Lucentis (ranibizumab) is an intravitreal anti-VEGF injection for retinal disease, supplied cold-chain and quoted per destination as originator or as a registered ranibizumab biosimilar.
M Care Exports supplies Lucentis (ranibizumab) to hospital eye pharmacies, importers and tender desks in the GCC, Africa and the UK, and quotes registered ranibizumab biosimilars where your regulator accepts them. If you are looking for Lucentis for a retina service, tell us the destination, strength and presentation, and we confirm the registration route before we offer a price basis.
Biosimilar brands: Byooviz, Cimerli, Ranivisio, Ximluci and Rimmyrah.
Ranibizumab exporter and bulk supplier from India.
"We need a partner for Lucentis" is a typical enquiry from an importer serving a retina clinic or a ministry tender. M Care is a merchant-exporter: we quote originator Lucentis and, where the destination registers them, ranibizumab biosimilars, against your specification. The offer depends on originator or biosimilar, the 0.5 mg or 0.3 mg presentation, vial or prefilled syringe, quantity, and what your regulator will register. Ranibizumab is a refrigerated product, so the real procurement questions are validated 2 to 8 C lanes, light protection, and remaining shelf life at arrival.

Anti-VEGF-A monoclonal antibody fragment (intravitreal), sourced and documented for export.
Ranibizumab is a recombinant humanised monoclonal antibody fragment that binds VEGF-A, given by intravitreal injection. Per the FDA label (Genentech), Lucentis is indicated for neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration, macular oedema following retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular oedema, diabetic retinopathy and myopic choroidal neovascularisation. The US label lists single-dose prefilled syringes delivering 0.05 mL, at 10 mg/mL (0.5 mg dose) and 6 mg/mL (0.3 mg dose). The EU authorisation, held by Novartis Europharm Limited per the EMA, covers adults with wet AMD, visual impairment due to choroidal neovascularisation, diabetic macular oedema and macular oedema after retinal vein occlusion, and the EMA overview also describes use in preterm infants with retinopathy of prematurity and in proliferative diabetic retinopathy. The EMA describes EU supply as single-use prefilled syringes or vials. Indications and presentations differ by country, so we work from the destination label.
Active ingredient
Ranibizumab. Anti-VEGF-A monoclonal antibody fragment (intravitreal).
Forms and strengths
10 mg/mL solution for intravitreal injection (0.5 mg dose); 6 mg/mL solution for intravitreal injection (0.3 mg dose, US label).
Indications
Ranibizumab, a recombinant humanised monoclonal antibody fragment that inhibits VEGF-A, indicated for wet AMD, diabetic macular oedema, retinal vein occlusion and choroidal neovascularisation. Supplied as originator Lucentis and, where the destination registers them, ranibizumab biosimilars, under 2 to 8 C cold chain.
Administration
Intravitreal. Solution for intravitreal injection (vial or prefilled syringe).
Documentation
Batch-specific CoA, CoPP, manufacturing-site WHO-GMP certificate and stability data compiled per consignment, in the format the destination regulator expects.
Hospital pharmacies, licensed importers and tender desks across our export markets.
India is our origin. We do not sell into the Indian market.
Buyers are hospital pharmacists and ophthalmology formulary leads, MoH and hospital tender desks, and licensed importers and distributors in the GCC, Africa and the UK. Typical enquiries read "I'm looking for Lucentis 0.5 mg prefilled syringes" or "We need a partner for ranibizumab for a retina programme". Intravitreal anti-VEGF is a specialist-only product: the UK SmPC requires administration by a qualified ophthalmologist experienced in intravitreal injections. Each destination has its own registration route, for example the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) in the UAE, NAFDAC in Nigeria and the MHRA in the UK, and we align the offer with it before quoting.
GCC registration routes
Supply against MoH registration held by your local licensed importer, or via the GCC central registration pathway.
UK unlicensed routes
Where no UK licence exists, the MHRA Specials and named-patient import routes cover clinically justified demand.
Tender desks
Bid-pack documentation assembled to the tender's specification, from CoPP to batch records.
Dossier support
CTD documentation from the sourcing manufacturer, compiled for your regulator's format.
What the dispensing pharmacist checks on ranibizumab.
Three points matter at the pharmacy. First, this is a cold-chain product. Both the US label and the UK SmPC require refrigeration at 2 to 8 C, no freezing, and protection from light in the original carton. The UK SmPC for the prefilled syringe allows an unopened tray at 25 C for up to 24 hours before use and gives a 3-year shelf life. The US label shows no room-temperature allowance, so do not assume one. Second, presentations are not interchangeable by label. The UK prefilled syringe has an extractable volume of 0.1 ml against a 0.05 ml dose, so the excess is expelled before injection, while US Lucentis syringes deliver 0.05 mL. Third, administration is specialist-only. The SmPC requires aseptic technique, monitoring of patients in the week after injection for endophthalmitis, and monitoring of intraocular pressure, with dosing withheld at 30 mmHg or above. Intervals between doses in the same eye should be at least four weeks.
The documentation pack a regulator actually asks for.
For a cold-chain biologic, the documents that matter are a validated 2 to 8 C shipping lane with in-transit logging, batch certificates of analysis, and the manufacturer's release documents. Originator Lucentis was authorised in the EU on 22 January 2007 per the EMA, with Novartis Europharm Limited as holder; in the US the labeler is Genentech, Inc. Biosimilar ranibizumab is authorised in both the US and the EU. The FDA labels for Byooviz (Biogen) and Cimerli (Sandoz) each state they are biosimilar to Lucentis, and the EMA lists Byooviz, Ranivisio, Ximluci and Rimmyrah as ranibizumab biosimilars with Lucentis as the reference medicine. We quote biosimilars only for destinations whose registration accepts them. M Care is a merchant-exporter and does not manufacture. Supplier GMP status is confirmed per line before quoting, and destination-aligned dossier support is available where the regulator requires it.

Ranibizumab supply, the specific questions.
What does Lucentis injection cost, and what sets the price for an importer?
We do not publish a Lucentis price, because the landed cost depends on the destination. The main drivers are originator Lucentis or a ranibizumab biosimilar, the strength and presentation (0.5 mg or 0.3 mg, vial or prefilled syringe), order quantity, the registration route in your country, validated 2 to 8 C cold chain, and the Incoterms. M Care Exports quotes per destination. Send the strength, quantity and port, and we return an offer.
Is there a Lucentis biosimilar, and what is the position in the US, EU and India?
Yes. In the US, the FDA labels for Byooviz (ranibizumab-nuna, Biogen) and Cimerli (ranibizumab-eqrn, Sandoz) each state that the product is biosimilar to Lucentis. In the EU, the EMA lists Byooviz (Samsung Bioepis NL B.V., authorised 18 August 2021), Ranivisio (Midas Pharma GmbH, 25 August 2022), Ximluci (STADA Arzneimittel AG, 9 November 2022) and Rimmyrah (Qilu Pharma Spain S.L., 5 January 2024), all with Lucentis as the reference medicine. For India we do not state a registration position here, because we have not confirmed it against the regulator's own records; ask us and we will check the current position for your enquiry. We do not claim any brand is registered in your destination.
Lucentis vs Eylea: how do the labels differ?
They are different molecules. Lucentis is ranibizumab; Eylea is aflibercept, held in the EU by Bayer AG per the EMA. On dosing interval, the Lucentis label starts with monthly injections, and the UK SmPC sets a minimum of four weeks between doses in the same eye. The EMA overview for Eylea describes wet AMD trial regimens of 2 mg every eight weeks after three initial monthly doses. The choice is made by the retina specialist and the formulary, not by the supplier. M Care quotes each as a separate enquiry.
Lucentis vs Avastin: can bevacizumab be used instead?
We do not recommend one product over another. The facts from the labels are these. The Avastin US label lists only oncology indications and intravenous use, and the EMA overview of Avastin lists only cancer indications by intravenous infusion, with no eye indication. Neither describes intravitreal use. Separately, the EMA has authorised Lytenava (bevacizumab gamma, Outlook Therapeutics NL B.V., 27 May 2024) for wet AMD in adults. Lytenava is a different product from Avastin. Treatment choice rests with the ophthalmologist and the national formulary.
Who makes Lucentis, and is it supplied by M Care Exports?
Per the FDA label, the US labeler of Lucentis is Genentech, Inc., and per the EMA the EU marketing authorisation holder is Novartis Europharm Limited. M Care Exports is a merchant-exporter, not a manufacturer. We source originator Lucentis and registered ranibizumab biosimilars through licensed channels and dispatch against a quote. We do not claim that any brand is registered in a given market, and we confirm registration status with you before we offer supply.
Is Lucentis an FDA-approved eye injection, and what is it used for?
Yes, Lucentis has an FDA label held by Genentech, Inc. It is an intravitreal injection into the eye, and the UK SmPC requires a qualified ophthalmologist experienced in intravitreal injections to give it. The US label lists wet AMD, macular oedema following retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular oedema, diabetic retinopathy and myopic choroidal neovascularisation, with 0.5 mg monthly for wet AMD and RVO, and 0.3 mg monthly for DME and diabetic retinopathy. The EU authorisation is separate and its wording differs, so we confirm the destination label before quoting a strength.
